While Mark Costigan, who was hired in 2005 as the PDs Assistant Government Press Secretary, is a well-respected, hard working individual, it simply defies logic in the face of the catastrophic downturn in the economy, the haemorrhaging of jobs and the continued wasteful overspending in the public sector, that he be kept on on a salary of €115,000.
In the spirit of ‘playing the ball and not the man’ in anyone’s eyes this is quite simply unacceptable behaviour.
The PDs are no longer in existence and retaining these services is now being perceived by a brow-beaten and jaded electorate as yet another example of blatant croneyism.
